What Does It Mean If A Child Takes A Shine To You Immediately?

Yesterday I was visiting a friend I haven’t seen in a few years as she moved to another part of the country. She had her little sister with her who is 7 years old and she hasn’t seen me before because she was a baby last time. Anyway, within literally a minute of me going in the house the little sister ran over and bear hugged me and must have hugged me a good 10-15 times throughout the day. We was all laughing hysterically about it and although I thought it was funny I was very surprised and confused as to why she took such a shine to me. It’s not like I had taken the time to speak or show my personality for the kid to see as it was instant. She also said she wanted to keep me there at their house lol. I was very confused about the whole thing tbh.

Children are often spontaneously affectionate, it doesn't 'mean' anything, just accept it as the way some children are.

Either just a very tactile, affectionate child or the child simply liked you. Means nothing else. Normal behaviour.

I can't answer your question, but I know what you mean. In a way, children are like animals, some take an instant dislike to you or they are very friendly. Although I'm not sure I have this affiliation with children, there have been times when I've gone to someone's house and almost as soon as I've sat down, the cat or dog has wanted my attention and I've been told they don't do that with other people.
