Well, millenial here and a lot of what she's saying is true tbh, however, you can elect for it not to be true as well, as I do and save your health and sanity. If people email me about work after work hours, I answer it after 9.00am the next day, people I'm friends with know if I'm doing real life stuff with my partner or family and they text or message, I'll reply when...

They can't can't be that busy having time to winge and moan about it.
Education is the answer. You can turn the *** thing OFF
Exactly Sher. My son is currently in Rome taking in the history!
Good for him.
It's true, nearly everyone my age that I know is working themselves into an early grave and never able to shut off, they really aren't contacting their dealer, arranging parties and endless holidays x
my starred out answer started with b
Thanks for the clarification Rosetta, in my mind it began with an F.
"But you don't know what they are doing on their screens."

From the (quite considerable number) that I've been able to overlook when they were seated next to me on trains or buses, they have been either scrolling through pages of inane drivel, looking at pictures of their friends' dinners or watching "YouTube" clips of dogs playing the accordion.
I think many would love to turn the phone off, but as Prudie said - more and more have to be contactable and a lot are 'on call', not just the young either.

My son in law is and they pay no heed to when they expect him to be available.
Do you not understand, NJ, how much pressure it puts on our youngsters to always look nice, always look photo ready because you never know who will post the pictures on-line?
lol arksided, but that was my first thought, I didnt think flippin cut the mustard
Gosh! Wow! I hadn't thought of that.. good point ummm... how do they cope!
NJ passes a journey looking at other folks phones, nothing wrong with relaxing during a train ride.
I doubt many are on call. Its just an inability to set boundaries

Like the telly in the pub which shows something you've gone out to avoid (such as football or "Strictly pro-celebrity Cake Baking" or whatever) you just get drawn to it, Mamy.
ummmm, //how much pressure it puts on our youngsters to always look nice, always look photo ready because you never know who will post the pictures on-line? //

Is that a serious comment?
Yes, Naomi. It's photos photos photos and they'll appear online. If someone takes out a camera phone in front of me I'll turn my back.

That's their life though. Pop into the pub after work and some knobster wants to your picture!

We didn't have that.
There have been articles, books and reports written about the stresses of modern life for decades, I recall them when I was in my teens - this is just another one.

The pressures alter with each era to a point.
The pressures change. Still pressure nonetheless.
Of course, with zero pressure we'd be comatose.
