//A family have been filmed hacking up animal carcasses in their back yard in Dagenham. It is not known if the family — celebrating Eid al-Adha, the Muslim festival of sacrifice — slaughtered the animals at home or were simply butchering them. Sun columnist Anila Baig said Muslim families traditionally sacrifice a goat or sheep and divide it into portions for Eid al-Adha. But she added: “In this day and age, it’s extremely unusual for someone to do this themselves at home.//

Whether or not this family slaughtered the animals themselves, someone did. Animal sacrifice in 21st century Britain. Oh the joys of multi-culturalism!

I did. You’re trying to have a dig at Muslims by condemning the slaughter of animals for sacrificial reasons (despite their being zero evidence). I’m pretty sure I’ve got that right. Correct me if not.
Question Author
zacs, //A woman living at the property confirmed yesterday they had been butchering for Eid //

....the Muslim festival of sacrifice.
Question Author
Okay zacs, you're wrong so I'll correct you. I'd condemn anyone for slaughtering animals for sacrificial reasons.
Butchering, not slaughtering, Naomi. If we’re sticking rigidly to your OP, then you weren’t concerned whether it was at the house pictured, only that it had been slaughtered for sacrifice, somewhere. Again, there is zero evidence for this.
11:00 - so would I, Naomi, when presented with evidence but a spurious article in a red top rag isn’t my idea of a sound basis to decry multiculturalism.
Question Author
Zacs, there isn’t zero evidence. The meat was being prepared for Eid. It had been slaughtered for sacrificial purposes.

… And even if it hadn’t, is turning a suburban back yard into a blood bath your idea of welcome multi-culturalism? I’ve no idea what you’re defending here or why you (or anneasquith) think this is acceptable.
Its not unusual around where I live to order a whole sheep from the butchers albeit ready chopped for the freezer but I'm sure they would provide one whole if asked. They also could have purchased direct from a Halal butchers. I'm not condoning Halal by the way it should be banned but that's a different thread.
They are cutting up meat for a BBQ as its their Religious Festival. Big Deal.....I'm sure there are loads of people being just as unhygienic every weekend in Summer with their sausages and burgers. Thank God there is no one in the leafy suburbs taking pics of Jez and Suzie leaving their sacrificial Wagu burgers out in the sunlight, or, heaven forbid, cutting their corn fed chicken into portions before cooking. What a load of tripe .
Where's all the blood in this so-called blood-soaked butchery?
Question Author
AuntLydia, // I'm not condoning Halal by the way it should be banned ….What a load of tripe .//

Hmm ….So Halal meat is not okay but animal sacrifice is. Not sure how you rationalise that … but okay.
In the 1980s I taught at a school in a part of Halifax which was becoming a Muslim area. One day there was a huge commotion outside the gates - a man was chasing a goat down the road and brandishing a knife and the outraged white residents were yelling at him and stopping him. He had been about to sacrifice it in the street and was completely baffled and angered by the reaction. I didn't see the end of it, I'm afraid (bell rang!) but I was told later that the police arrived and that the goat was safe.

Just a little anecdote to say that this sort of thing does go on. That area is now completely Muslim so goodness only knows what happens there.
Naomi you can't cherry pick a post to make your point!
Halal :Not in the OP but I presume the animal has been dispatched by those methods, I'm totally against this method of slaughter but this was not mentioned in the OP
Sacrifice -you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever, other than this report that the animal was being prepared for a feast of Eid, how this animal was killed. Frankly this photo could have been taken at any time and offered up to the Sun for a nice wadge of cash. The fact its in The Sun speaks volumes. I would not even look at that Rag let alone quote from it!
‘Animals were slaughtered before being eaten’ seems to be the drift here.
Whatever next
What is the difference between dispatching an animal in a slaughterhouse using Halal and 'sacrificing' it?

What is the difference between 'Butchering' an animal and 'hacking it to bits'?................The Tabloids.

Disgusting. the people who defend these filthy savages.
I see no blood .
I don't see any blood either. If they had killed it, blood would be everywhere. They are butchering it...for a festival, and probably for their own use. Not very sanitary, but that's their problem.
if you want blood, I'm sure there's plenty in this link.

I haven't even clicked on it myself. I'm well aware of how the scum operate.
Spicerack...and where in that link does it say that photo is of the same backyard?
Naomi ‘It had been slaughtered for sacrificial purposes’

Putting aside the fact that you can’t slaughter something for sacrificial purposes (I know what you mean but it’s either sacrificed or it’s slaughtered, not both) there is nothing in the article which confirms this.
Question Author
AuntLydia, //you can't cherry pick a post to make your point!//

I haven’t cherry picked. I don’t like any of it but you seem to think some of it is acceptable.

//you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever, other than this report that the animal was being prepared for a feast of Eid, how this animal was killed.//

The question isn’t about how these animals were killed but why. Is animal sacrifice acceptable in this country in the 21st century? That is the question. It’s not that difficult to understand.

Zacs 14:40 you need to think about that again.
