I don't think the percentage of black news readers accurately reflects the percentage of black people in the country.
Do you think we are getting diversity shoved down our throats?
Putting the news on is like watching Africa News.

THELAND, from your studies, how many newsreaders are there on tv and how many are non-white?
The lass on Channel 4 News in the headscarf must really freak you out :-)
Could you not imagine that each of these BAMEsters is a member of your family? Would that help?
ummmm
/// How would you even know they are Indian? (or British Indian) ///

Eh??? Are you for real?

Can't you tell a person who is from the Indian sub-continent or one that was born here?
I can’t. How do you do it, AOG?
I think 'proper' Indians' heads wobble when they talk.
I don't know if a person is from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc, I can't tell by looking at them. Same as I wouldn't know if someone was from Japan or China.

If they speak with an English accent I only have an idea of what part of the world their ancestry is.
Ah yes, and they say but but but all the time.
This thread is about the number of black newscasters, true diversity is not all about blacks.
I think ANOTHEOLDGIT needs to get out the sun, his brain is frazzled...
Yeah, but, come on, how do you tell whether they’re Indian born or from elsewhere?

So you have Somali AND Sudanese daughters-in-law?
One other thing would be that odd loincloth/nappy thing they have going on when they step out from behind their desk.
Alright, AOG, where is Naga Munchetty from?
Mmm. And it’s a good job those from Africy still have bones through their noses otherwise we’d be in a right pickle and no mistake!

I would just like to add that although my knowledge of the sub-continent, it's peoples and customs appears in-depth and extensive it's actually non-existant and none of my family members by marriage hail from those parts.

I do eat quite a lot of curry though, if that helps anything.
ummmm

I did not mention Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc, I mentioned the Indian sub-continent.
Neither did I mention Japan, but if I were you if you cannot recognise a Chinese person by looking at them, then may I suggest a trip to SpecSavers?

/// If they speak with an English accent I only have an idea of what part of the world their ancestry is. ///

Well there is a contradiction of terms if ever there was one.
So come on then, enlighten us as to how you can tell whether someone is from the Indian Sub Continent or not, AOG?
You're missing the point AOG.
He’ll be along in a minute to say, ‘cor You lot, can’t you spot a joke?’
