Food Deliveries - Tipping

Not keen on tipping, although I always do it on the basis that service workers often rely on tips, but food delivery (mainly men)... If it’s say £27 I give them £30, and while I don’t WANT any change, it’s always nice when they go through the motions of reaching in their pockets for the three quid.
Recently many don’t even go through the motions, and one particularly cheeky bleeder held out his hand for more!

Many people refuse tips anyway. When I was working at a railway station, all of the supervisors (and most of the other staff) declined to accept tips, even though we were permitted to do so.
I only made one exception. It was for the snooty woman who turned up occasionally, saying "I've booked a porter" in a tone which suggested that, as a 'porter', I was the lowest of the low. (I resisted the temptation to point out that I'd got considerable responsibility in my job and three sets of letters after my name).
For taking her bags from the booking hall to the where she was due to board the First Class section of the train (about 20 metres!) she always gave me a fiver (which I donated to the staff tea fund).

When I used to occasionally order pizzas to be delivered, I'd say 'Keep the change' to the lad, because it was paid in cash on the doorstep, and you don't want to faff around finding the right change.
I've never had a supermarket delivery, but I assume you pay by card on its website. No cash involved, so no need for a tip.
We don't tip parcel deliverers, so I assume the same for supermarket food deliverers.

I don't use home delivery grocery services or get takeaways delivered. However, if I did, it would never occur to me to tip a Tesco driver (or one from Asda, Ocado, etc) but, equally, it would never occur to me not to tip someone delivering takeaway food.
Drivers working for the big supermarkets might not be very well paid but they're generally far better off than takeaway delivery staff, who're often paid 'per delivery', rather than on an hourly rate. They can end up earning hardly nothing when trade is slack and they've still got to pay for the extra insurance cover needed to drive their car (or moped) for 'business use' plus the cost of the fuel they use.

The only delivery people I tip are the friendly/efficient drivers used by our excellent Chinese - I add about 10% and round to the nearest pound.

I use Just Eat on the very occasional occasion we use takeaway . I don't tip .
As an addendum , I don't tip as a matter of course unless it's a young person . Simply because my children worked in hotels unloading suitcases , trailing them upstairs for peanuts . If it wasn't for the very greatful residents they would have lost all faith in human kind Hotel owners in the main rely on their residents to pay their staff .

I tip most people, even my hospital transport staff get some chocs etc.

Agreed trt. The money you pay by card goes to the house and nothing for the poor guy who has to travel through rain, sleet and snow sometimes to dangerous areas?
Who gives tips to parcel guys and supermarket delivery drivers? They’re on fixed pay/ contracts unlike the zero hours takeaway delivery drivers.
I always tip them, usually £3 or more at Xmas, not tipping them is another level of tightness.
