It won't be cheap, the reason oriental video recorders extinguished European made ones is that the European ones were modular designs that couls be repaired by replacing faulty modules (bloks). The problem is that this approach takes up more space, has more connectors and more wiring.Additionaly a lot more parts have to be handled. The oriental recorders had everything soldered once onto one board and were thus so cheap that they became the module.
I think the phone blok idea hasn't got legs unless you don't mind a phone the size of a tablet and a tablet the size of a laptop.
