quite right boaty. it is not always about the money is it. more about the irreplaceable personal things. most of the house would not worry me but have a few things i would not want to be without. silly, valueless things mostly.

how safe are chimney stacks ? Mine are ancient.

It depends how well they are maintained tam. Age doesn't matter so much. If they've been there some time they will probably be OK.

Morning all from Sussex where it's been blowing a hooley all weekend. I feel very sorry for the poor folks in the west country where it's been a million times worse. Lord Boaty, I hear it's been bad around your area too. I remember your saying, some time ago, that you were up a hill so I assume you're all ok?

Mine has an internal metal tube for CH emissions but it is high. Am off into a caravan till this blows over.

Morning jan xxx It has been a bit grim here, but yes, I'm 280 feet up, so I'm fine thanks. Down at sea level however it is a different story. Many roads were closed yesterday, including motorways and A roads, railways too. So I didn't bother trying to go down the hill yesterday.
