Can anyone clear up the pronunciation of this part of Canary Wharf for me? It's the main open space, joining the tube station and the HSBC, Citigroup building with the wharf's shopping plaza.

Is it pronounced "Cab-ot", or "Cab-ow"?

cabott.  Named after the chap who discovered newfoundland.

Is this the 'trendies' trying to give it a continental edge?!  When was there a silent t in the English vocabulary?

And for anyone who knows it, I grew up in East London and Plaistow is always 'plar-sto' to the locals, not 'play-sto'!!

I don't know about a silent T in the English language, but have heard of a silent 'P' in 'bath'.
