Can anyone recommend a decent music download site that does wma files but doesn't require a subcription. Don't want to pay a monthly fee to Napster and iTunes isn't compatable with Windows media player, any ideas?

Oh preferably legal too
If you want legal downloads of music, you're going to have to pay for it.  Otherwise, lookup Soulseek which is free and has no spy/adware in it.  Hoorah!

I don't mind paying for tracks, just want to log on select the tracks and download wma files without having to subscribe at all

That's a subscriber service, I'm looking for a pay as you go service
Sorry, maybe this then http://www.virgin.com/download
You need to go here http://www.apple.com/itunes/
it is also an awesome piece of software to categorise and organise all your music in alphabetical order etc.
No subscription and can buy either single songs for 0.99p or whole albums for 9.99

does iTunes do wma files? No! thanks for calling!
Does MusicMatch do wma?

Go for soulseek or bearshare lite. These programmes are legal, just sharing copyrighted material on them isnt. However, you will never be charged with illegal downloading unless you download tens of thousands of songs (then attempt to redistribute at a cost). This is the type of people being charged in america.

Whos worried if you have a couple of hundred songs? If the music industry were worried about minor infringement of copyright, then the blank tape would never have been invented.

The best site I can personally reccommend is www.tescodownloads.com .It only uses wma files. Singles cost 0.79 each and if you have a tesco clubcard you can get points too.

Hi again I just thought I should add a couple of extra things The address given in my previous answer for tesco diownloads is correct but does not work from the link in my Answer bank answer. So if you type it in to your address bar manually you should be okay.

Secondly the  wma's sold here are copy protected so you may have problems burning them to audio disc. Good luck!
