URGENT; what software will help me read HFS mac files to a PC?

i have a PC and ive been given an external hard drive full of HFS mac files...

the drive doesnt even read on the pc...so we cannot even access the files to convert them

how can we access these files?

and once we can access them, whats the best way to convert them? (they are music files)

we are on windows 7
