I suggest you go back to the question-page and scroll down to the one seven below your own. The first response there refers to the opinion of Michael Quinion as to the word's origin. He, by the way, is a noted etymologist and lexicographer...ie an expert on the history and development of English words and phrases. Nowhere does he imply that the word is from Geordie-land; indeed, he rather suggests it may be of south-east provenance. Sorry...but there you go.
I was about to answer that it is no way a georgie word . but you can see for yourself if you read the post that quizmonster is talking about.. so as a someone that lives in the southeast, can you northerners stop messing with our words...
I think it is a daft word - I am a southerner and I live in the north and I have never once heard this word said on tthe ten years I have been here and I have a geordie BF and all his Geordie family. The first time I heard this horrible word was in the paper - and now you can't get away from it!
