What sort of experiences have people had with Speed Dating? Good, bad or ugly? I've been twice and didn't really enjoy it. It felt a bit false and I found it really tiring, especially with being asked the same questions over and over (what do you do, where do you live, have you done this before). Still, it's quite hard to ask the more whacky questions such as what flower would you be etc. without looking like an idiot!

Too scared to ever do it, so well done!
Not tried it, but that's more because I'm never instantly attracted to anyone (they have to grow on me!)  so would be pointless for me. I can recommend on-line dating though! You can take your time getting to know someone by e-mail and chatting on the phone before deciding whether to meet.
Keep seeing adverts for it posted on lamp posts.  Not that I'm interested in going, but if I did my questions would need to be slightly whacky to get the most out of it.  ie, Is this person on my wavelength?  Boring questions like the one's you've mentioned would give me no inkling.

MissZippy if you met me you would be instantly attracted!

Never tried speed dating, it seems a bit fast furios and false.  I prefer meeting someone by chance (bus stop, supermarket etc) and getting to know them briefly before asking them on a date - at least you have the option of making an escape (either way) and are not sat with a boring geek or freek!

Miss Zippy, I tried online dating and after months of emailing a guy and speaking on the phone and really falling for him we met irl and it was awful!! he was totally different to how he was online, its sounds stupid but I didn't like his body language at all and wasn't attracted to him face to face. We did meet a few times but I just couldn't like him the same way I did through email.I think i'd like to try speeddating so i could see what its like. A friend of mine is getting married to someone he met speeddating so it works for some. But like Octavius I think a chance meeting would be good.
The whole dating thing is a bit hit and miss no matter how you meet. You can meet someone out in a pub/club/at the bus stop and get on great and fancy them but then meet up a second time and think they're a twit! When I tried on-line dating, I'd swap lots of piccies and even video clips (no, not kinky ones) before deciding whether to meet up with anyone so the chances of any nasty surprises were minimal!

Some people have had a good time - the customers who come back to give us feedback.  It's just a bit of fun and if you don't take it seriously it's not a disapointment if you meet someone or not.....
A few years ago my friends and I tried both internet and speed dating.Internet dating was a waste of time. Its not hard to get on with most people, so the emailing bit was grand, but then you'd met them face to face and instantly know there was just no spark.Speed dating was hilarious. We all got drunk as skunks and laughed our way through the whole evening.I didnt meet anyone I wanted to go on a further date with, but had alot of fun.I'd definately recommend it.
