We have a chance to go to Boston USA in late June. Can anyone tell me how good, or bad, the weather might be? Also what will the shopping be like there compared to New York? TIA.

The weather is likely to be hot (by UK standards) and very humid. See here:

I've not been to Boston but I remember reading an article, in the travel section of one of the Sunday broadsheets, which recommended Boston for shopping. That seems to be backed up by this website:

Actually, Boston weather in June is exceptionally pleasant. You'll expect temperatures, on average of under 70 degrees F. Boston is one of my favorite east coast cities. Since it's directly on the harbor leading to the Atlantic Ocean, the weather tends to remain fairly moderate. You can expect rain showers frequently.
I'd recommend you take a short and pleasant drive north on Interstate 93 to Interstate 95 to Kittery, just over the New Hampshire line, about an hour north of Boston, which has a solid mile of outlets stores with excellent bargains.
If you want to drive a little farther, Freeport, Maine is aobut 25 miles north of Portland and has the original L.L. Bean store and many, many other stores in a picturesque small town... (great lobster, too).
In Boston, be sure not to miss Filene's Basement, anyone can tell you how to get there. I'd never do Boston without visiting Fanueil Hall and everthing it has to offer...(It'll take you an hour just deciding what to eat!) See it here: http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/
Spend a few dollars and take the tour up Prudential Towers (about $12 for adults, less for kids) and walk all the way around the Skywalk for a great view of the historic area of Boston...
...and welcome to the U.S., by the way!

Sounds my cup of tea - I might just try it ;-)
Just had a great weekend in Boston. Weather very nice for the end of March. Lovely city to walk around. Shopping wise it has all the major names and with the $ as it is it is all so cheap. Reccommend hiring a car and driving south to Wrentham Outlet Malls for some serious shopping - Coach, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Anne Klein, Off Saks 5th Avenue, Banana Republic, Tommy H and Ralph L (where his bath towels were 6.50 each!)
BTW - Filenes Basement has closed down and is a building site.
it is very nice.
go to Martha's vineyard too if you get the chance.
weather is warm but not unpleasant.
If you rush you can learn some of the local lingo before you go, although the locals can be hard to undershtand.
