My wife is threatening to divorce me for adultery. We own several properties which for tax purposes, are in her name. I have been told that she stands to gain at least 75% of the combined assets. Is this true? Also, I have a pension that will mature in a few years, how much of this is she entitled to.

Your pension will depend on her circumstances - if she has an excellent income of her own to sustain her through her old age and is not reliant on you, then very little of your pension.

And you will have to fight for any share of her properties - they are in her name after all.

Fault does not come in to it, though - your adultery is neither here nor there in respect of division of matrimonial assets.

Thanks Ethel

She says she is going to clear me out. Can she do this. Although the properties are in her name (1 is the family home) I am the main earner.

With respect, your intention to avoid tax has rebounded upon you and you must be prepared to accept that your attempted subterfuge, which means that the rest of us have to pay rather more tax than we would otherwise need to to make up for it. A firm lesson in life.
I think that there is a moral to all this - if you want to try and sneak round the tax laws by putting your property in your wife's name then good for you. You want to dip your wick elsewhere then you pay the price. If she clears you out then good for her as it was you who committed adultery - can't have your cake and eat it mate.
She might quite likely get half the pension too.
Are you some sort of ******** You deserve all she gets.
