It's Whitby regatta 11th,12th,13th so there will be lots going on outside . Usually there are indoor things advertised at the tourist info office. I think parking your car will be more problem than any rain. Hope you have a good time and the weather is sunny.
The NYM Railway is running steam hauled carriages to Pickering from Whitby.
I hope it doesn't rain to much for you.
Its probably not going to rain, so go to Robin Hoods Bay and look through the rock pools on the beach after the tide has gone out, lots of Hermit crabs and starfish bit of a climb back up for Granny but OK if you take it slow ,or Staithes futher up the coast where you can find fossils your son will love both. If it rains go to the magpie in whitby for Fish and Chips but be prepared to queue. Well worth it though.

Thanks to all of you.x
The steam railway to pickering is good value for money and if its raining would be ideal. The tour bus in whitby is also good value pick up and drop off as when you want and its only three pound odd for adults and children and oaps have reduced rates they give good info whilst on the tour.Hope it keeps dry for you [and myself] I shall be there adore the place.
