What's the best way to learn construction skills? I'm interested in bricklaying and plastering, but don't want to spend years learning about them. Are there any good colleges etc.. in London?

As with many things and in particular manual skills there is a big difference in learning to do something and being good at doing it. The key is experience. Both bricklaying and plastering are simple enough that any college would be able to teach you how to do it, the skill and quality would come with the experience. So to answer the question most local college's are likely to be do a course and be of a similar standard. Visit the local Job center (or what ever they are called today) and they will have plenty of bumf on where such courses are avaliable. Good Luck
Best place to contact is the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Their website is at: http://www.citb.co.uk and for the London area the email address is: [email protected] The Area Manager for London is Sue Rossiter. They will put in touch with an appropriate college in your area.
