Do you mean england or the UK.....they are different things you know!
The name of the oldest person in the UK - the lady who has just turned 111 years old - is Lucy d'Abreu and she lives in Stirling, Scotland. Hence she is not - as Sft points out - the oldest in England. Having said that, her name isn't terribly Scottish, so I'm not sure we can really claim her either! Click http://www.munster-express.ie/030117/news14.htm and a link will take you to a website all about her.

Einstein sweetie, calm down & take a good stiff drink. The question header is Oldest Person In England. Then the question itself refers to the UK. Hence the confusion. Or is it only me & sft42 that are confused ?
If you click on http://www.goanvoice.org.uk/newsletter/2001/issue2

and scroll down to the section headed "In the News", you will see a quote from the lady herself. It says: "Being Indian was a positive advantage for us." She was born near Goa and her maiden name was d'Souza, two facts which would strongly suggest a Portuguese family background. She spent most of her life in Ireland and then moved to Scotland. I can't find any reference to suggest she ever so much as set foot in England, but I'm pretty sure she isn't English!
