The Victoria County Histories for each county are a collection found in every town Libary, they will contain information on cities towns villages and hamlets within each County. The vols are a comprehansive historical record of manors, Wappentakes and hundreds with details as far back as the Doomsday Book. Each volume covers at least one Hundred (which was an ecclesiastical/administrative area and these hundreds are then described village by village in relation to the Manor that covered that village. They need to be used more often i think, during my research i used the Lancashire ones (4 Vols) extensively.
Didn't realise a Debenham's training course was so comprehensive, Dot. ;-)
