O i see - cheers - so who appoints the pope if not God?
Darth, It was Harold Wilson, I believe, who coined the term 'gnomes of Zrich' to refer to the bankers of Switzerland. They were creating financial problems for the British government by speculating in international currencies in the mid-60s.

A new Pope is chosen by the College of Cardinals in secret conclave at the Vatican.

I've no idea what this 'languid' frenzy is all about, but I'm guessing it involves finding opening letters to quiz answers. If so, you clearly seem to be looking for 'g' and 'c'. Cheers

Darth - where abouts are you on Languid - Net Riddle nowadays??? I'm stuck as hell on 2.27....
