Im going to an awards do with work on thursday and have left it til the last minute to decide what to wear. The dress code is 'lounge suit' what does this mean? I'm definately gonna wear trousers as my legs are covered in scratches and bite marks because of my job so i cant wear a skirt. Any advice would be good, thankyou!

Well for men it means trousers matching jacket and tie.

Not sure what that means for you but a trouser suit would probably be OK.

It means semi-formal such as you would wear to work if you worked in an office. Lounge Suit is simply another term for a business suit as mentioned above. For men it would be a work suit with tie. For women it would be a formal outfit such as a business suit or something equally formal even a dress, ballgown or just a 'smart' skirt and top. You have to judge the occasion and the clientelle/fashion depending on the particular award ceremony. Women hardly ever tend to be overdressed on such occasions (in my opinion).
I would siagree slightly with Octavious - if men are in lounge suits, a formal gown will look somewhat OTT. Play safe with a conservative business suit - trousers are fine, but wear a matching jacket.
