Read in the newspaper that some people actually wrote Jedi on the recent census forms in the UK as their religion. Is it a joke or is there actually some sort of 'Way' or 'Creed' they follow?

Nope, not a joke. People actually did it, and if so many people filled that in on the form (so many thousand) then it had to be recognised as a religion - but I read in the paper today, that although they recognised it, something about they won't actually allow it. Its more like something you'd tell your mate you did down the pub, as opposed to filling it in in the 'religion' box on the next post office form. Personaly, think the world would be so much btter if we were all Jedi's!!! May the force be with you!
What did Darth Vader (AB contributer) put down as on the census form: Jedi (lapsed)?
I read way back when the cencus was still ongoing that it didn't matter how many people wrote Jedi, they would not allow it as a "new" religin, they would just include the numbers in their "other" category along with anyone who put down something outside of the traditionally recognised religion. I put Wiccan so I guess I'm just an "other" too!
ReverendMat - I believe that Wiccan is a recognised relisgion - so you're not an "other", you are what you is!
As I understand it was done as a joke. Jedi isn't recognised as a religion, it's just that on the next census you'll be able to tick a box instead of writing it in.
All responses to religion in the sensus as "jedi knight" were categorised as "Other" i have been told. Though the Census office may put it in next time for a laugh....
Me? Once a jedi always a jedi (death has no meaning)
Unfortunately, they catergorised us alongside those with no religion. I don't think they have much of a sense of humour so I don't think there'll be a box for Jedis next time. A point that I made and had published in the Telegraph reads: Sir - I count myself among the 390,000 "Jedis" as revealed by the 2001 census (Report, Feb 14). I am sure that 100 per cent of us enjoy and indeed respect the Star Wars films. Given that only 11 per cent now attend church at least once a month, and that dreadful scandals continue to embarrass the Church, could the same be said for this country's Christians? And, yes, I know I'm showing off. I was chuffed that they put it in and I want everyone to know!! Seriously, I think there is a lot one can learn from the world of fiction, possibly more than from Christianity or any other religion. However, if you are going to try to emulate anyone from history, then Jesus is a bloody good bet.
Nutters!!
