My new husband and I have decided we want to go on holiday- but where!

We don't really want to go abroad, just for a week in the UK somewhere. We'll probably rent a holiday home- or a static caravan, (for the first time!) We are from the South Coast and aren't looking to spend loads of money. A nice simple holiday exploring somewhere rural! We aren't huge fans of places like Center Parcs etc.

We were considering Westward Ho! on Devon- any other ideas? What is Jersey like? We aren't party people (anymore) and have no kids. Somewhere beautiful and full of character, and maybe a chance of some sunshine?? We are going mid June so need to book it. No pressure...

Thanks to all you helpful folk.

Hi Kilala, What about the Lake District, especially the northern lakes area around Keswick. So much to see, wonderful walking country, good coast line nearby. Mind you, it can rain a bit round there !! I am envious already.

Hi Kilala , Scenic rural places i like in no order.

North Wales - snowdonia region , Scottish Borders , Lake District. Dorset.

Good luck and have a nice holiday wherever you go.

Cornwall!

Sun, sea, and cider farms.
What more could you ask for?

:o)

You really can't go wrong with Devon or Cornwall. We go to either (or both) every year & I am not bored with it yet!

Marvellous part of the country :o)

I haven't been to Jersey but know of people who have..and they weren't disappointed.

West Wales. So much to do and see and has incredibly beautiful beaches. And lots of history!

Thanks for the replies! I used to live in Lancaster and don't fancy going back to the Lakes, so I'm thinking Devon it probably is!

Any Jersey fans out there want to chip in?

Yorkshire - there's loads to see up here - York has loads to do, Leed City centre for shopping, walks in the Yorkshire dales and there's the East coast only a stones throw away, as well.

And it's boiling at the moment!!

Southwold in Suffolk

Woolacombe bay, North Devon. Beautiful village called Croyde. Amazing spotless safe beaches and the icecreams (especially the one's covered in clotted cream) are to die for!! Beautiful walks around Baggy Point too. And if you are upto it the surfing is great! Happy Holidays!!
Gower in South Wales. Some of the best beaches anywhere are all within a few miles as well as fabulous scenery. An added bonus is the world's best ice-cream on sale at Joe's in Swansea. Be prepared for a long queue when the weather is hot as it is now, but the wait is well worth it.
