As long as it's not late at night, or all the time, I think you're OK.
Unless they have a baby who's going for a nap at that time?
Some people will complain if you live in total silence and never do anything - they just want to draw attention to themselves. I had a neighbour who, after I'd had some pebbledashing done, carried on at me about the "terrible mess the builders left." When I went round to look at it, there was nothing at all!!! she just wanted to stir things up!

if you ask me you should be able to play your music until at least 9pm with out any complaints, what if you have a party whats he like then.

if you have a party make sure you let me know ill be round.

Errm, if you can't hear it outside the house, how does your neighbour know when to complain?
maybe try moving your speakers - the positioning of these can really affect how the noise moves through to the neighbouring properties - i found (through trial and error) that having them off the floor by about a foot - or even better on those special stands for them - and not against a wall you share has the best noise reduction effect. Also put carpet down or big rugs as these make the place much quieter too...
asides from all that you could just ignore this person as i doubt that the council or anyone else will take much notice if it is only at the times you mention

good luck
