I can recommend the food (and drink!) in the Anchor Inn (Cowes) although I went about 6 years ago.

I took my young son to the zoo there a few weeks back (this was the big cats and lemur sanctuary). I have to say i wasnt overly impressed. The animals seemed well cared for and the zoo was a good zoo, it just seemed a little bit small and we were round and out within 2 hours.

The needles and Alum bay are worth a visit.

When i was small i remember going to a place called black gang chime or well at least thats how it sounds
Pity you won't get the chance of bumping into Ellen Macarthur as she's still sailing round Asia. There's loads to see in the harbours and the beaches are canny.
The model village at Godshill is a must for kids of all ages.
Osborne House for a bit of culture and a look back to the Victorian age .You can ride around the grounds in a pony and trap and see the Swiss Cottage which was a playhouse for Queen Victorias children. Tennyson down for the view and IOW Pearl in Brightstone. Carrisbrooke Castle,Blackgang Chine and the lovely village of Shanklin. There are loads of family friendly pubs and restaurants. You will find plenty to do and see....have had many happy holidays there..it's a lovely place.
There is a pub called the Crab and Lobster in Bembridge along the coast, they do fantastic lunches, if you are in the area ask one of the locals. Also you must visit Osborne House. Just as it was when Queen Victoria lived there, fascinating.
kimbro- we're going in September. Let us know what you think to it will you?
