Organizing a charity gala, and want to ask around to see if some (not so famous) celebrities would maybe open the event. Where do i get contact details etc to ask them. Is there a list somewhere out there, of those select few who would maybe help?

Trevor McDonald does a lot of charity work. Came to the opening of our flowershop for special needs children
Contact granada studios in manchester

dont be suprised if the "celeb" wants an apperance fee...

was told (second hand) that a local football star (ex-player) wanted a grand to appear at a charity do.

wouldnt be so bad but the guy was born and raised local so knew the cause.......

GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING...

Where do you live?
Two people that spring to mind in manchester are David James the City goalkeeper and John Amechi the basketball player.
Both really top fellas who do a lot for charity (especially if its for kids)

Go the the homepage of The Spotlight and enter the celebrity's name in the search box. You should be able to get contact details.

Concentrate on names who live close to your area - few celebs will travel very far for such events unless the appearance fee really makes it worth their while. You need to give them as much notice as possible too - and always act through their agents.

Why do celebrities charge a fee for appearing at charity meetings - isn't a medal or a title from her Majesty the Queen enough?

Listen, Ms Angela: I'll hitch-hike over and you can tell the audience that I'm the world's most famous unknown bloke that they have never heard of.

It won't cost you a penny - but you'll probably have to leave town ...

(It was my wife's suggestion that I hitch-hike. We live in Iceland.)

Love to all,

A certain actress who lives in our area was approached to open her village fete, the proceeds of which would help they local playgroup. She agreed but wanted to charge a huge fee. They didn't hire her!

Most actors and actresses are contracted to agents and although they can get away with some free work it is few and far between.

You should try an agent and ask if there's anyone available.

local football/rugby teams will usually provide players to open these events and some even bring things with them to raffle etc.....our local football team is in League One (so not premiership style celebs but still well known locally) and the rugby team is one of the top teams with quite a few internationals. Players form both are always in the local rag having opened something or other.
Quite by chance there was an article in today's Guardian about this very subject - http://society.guardian.co.uk/print/0,,329444687-111919, 00.html
