I almost agree. I have read the Koran and the Bible (several times) and concluded that I am an atheist. At the same time I respect the views of others and rarely discuss religion. I do not think I have any more right to impose my views on believers than they have to impose theirs on me.
Problem is, if there were no religion, something else would have taken its place. Its the nature of us Humans.
how many people have tried to force religion on you? I'm older than you and nobody's ever tried to do it to me.
I too have never had people try to force religion on me.

I too am an atheist.

However, I recognise that many wars and atrocities were not motivated by religion. And many good people are motivated by their faith to do the most extroadinarily selfless acts.

As are atheists, by their humanity.

We are all different, thankfully.
I think this is a growing thing, perhaps in the past a lot of people followed religion simply because there was no choice and there was a massive amount of pressure from society and family. Now people can be in touch with the world and decide for themselves .. ... For those who believe then of course that is to be respected, but I think it is time for those who do not, to be given a little more respect too.
I am also an atheist. religion was created by the politicions to control the masses. we were created by the aliens from a monkey/alien hybrid
A true believer of any religion will not force their religion on you, they will understand that there is no virtue in compulsion.
why don't yopu say this to the people who are trying to force religion on you?

actually SarCaustic, some religions require their followers to convert others.

Still, at least you can take the **** out of JWs, that's always good fun.

jno what planet you on every day religion is rammed down your throat!! i for one do not want to hear about it as i have no interest what so ever
Be like me,I'm a dyslexic satanist, I adore the drivel
I'm an Agnostic, Dyslexic Insomniac... I was up all last night wondering if there was a Dog!

Thanks. And the question is?

Religion is sometimes created out of convenience.Henry the V111 wanted a divorce (HEY PRESTO) we got church of England
Did you hear about the dyslexic devil worshipper? Sold his soul to santa.
Bernie there's certainly a lot of talk about religion but none of it is 'forced' on me. By the same token, there must be 100 times as much talk about football, which interests me even less; is that 'forced' on me? Should I be able to have it outlawed because I don't like it?
Anyone who thinks religion isnt forced on the public is naive or already brainwashed. Nearly all wars have taken place in the name of religion, though perhaps for other underlying reasons. Public values, religion, are rammed down our throat daily, read the papers. I actually had 2 JW's atr the door today, why? I will explain it carefully here, there can be no misunderstanding. Okay, here it is. There is no God, Allah or afterlife. When we die, thats it... dead and gone. Its over. What is wrong with that?? True religion comes from within and is the way we conduct ourselves on till we die, good or bad. We should be religious for ourselves, not for some made up deity. You dont see chickens praying to Mecca?
and the question is?

I agree with joko. Nobody forces religion down my throat either. Yes, it may be in the media from time to time but I can choose to watch it or not. I take great pleasure, when the JWs disturb our family Sunday Lunch of saying "No Thankyou" as I smile sweetly at them. Nothing more than that seems to get rid of them.

Not one of my CofE church- going friends has ever asked me to come along on a Sunday, thankfully.

Patc7642 since when have public values been the domain of religion? So us non-religious ones have no values have we? Lady_p_Gold has the right idea. The atheists, agnostics and humanists deserve some respect.
