Hi Einstein, It's actually my fiancee's name. I've looked on the Internet and there are only a few people out there with the same name. Unfortunately as yet no one has been able to help me. Her parents were under the impression that it was an old Irish Gaelic name, but that's all I have to go on. Thanks for looking it up for me I really do appreciate it.

Could it be a version of 'Norina', used in Italy as a pet form of 'Nora'? That, in itself, is a diminutive of Honoria - meaning 'Honour' in Latin - or of Eleanor. The latter may possibly be from a Germanic source, but is of unknown significance; alternatively, it may conceivably be related to Helen, Greek for 'torch'. (Just call her "My bright and burning light!" I'm sure she'll be delighted. Hope that's of some help.)
could it possibly derived from the Norns in Norse mythology? It's just a thought.
