This is just something i thought of having read a related thread. Its just a silly question but im curious as to how other ABers do it.

When i am preparing my toothbrush i wet it quickly, add the toothpaste then wet it again. How do you do it? It sounds daft but i couldnt just put the paste on a dry brush and then start brushing my teeth. Surely nobody does this! Do you wet the brush then brush your teeth with paste (no water on top) or do you put the paste on a dry brush then add water then do your teeth? See, i told you it was a daft question! :OP

Yes, it IS a daft question, but I'm going to answer it anyway (probably because I'm as daft as you!)

Wet toothbrush, add toothpaste, clean teeth (no extra wetting). I agree with you, couldn't put toothpaste on a dry toothbrush - too abrasive.

Um, why do you want a poll?!

I was told by my dentist years ago, not to wet the toothbrush before brushing, as it makes the toothpaste less effective.
Yes! I was told not to wet the toothbrush first too! But I thought it was because it made the bristles soft and therefore less effective.

Ok, I admit I wet the brush, apply paste then brush, but having seen the proffered advice I'll try the dry brush method.

See........even an old stick-in-the-mud like me can change LOL!

Surely you wet the brush first to give it a quick rise - which is a good idea thanks to 'airborne aerosol bacteria' which come from the spray when you flush your toilet.

gary baldy: I suspect that you are a man who leaves the loo seat up.

I rinse my brush before I add the paste, because like gary baldy, my husband never puts the lid down before flushing the loo.

Cherrybomb, I think that's a man thing!

Re the bacteria thing - I soak my toothbrush in baby sterilising solution (but I have now moved the mug to the other side of the shelf!)
i give a quick rinse, paste then another quick rinse. HLL gives a quick rinse, paste then half a lakefull of rinse before FINALLY getting the piggin brush into his mouth!
