samantha who?
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue - BBC Radio 4

Since May 11, 1985, there has been a scorer "whose job is eased by the fact no points are actually awarded". This scorer is a fictional character who only exists to parody other panel games (such as Just a Minute) who employ scorers. This role is usually filled by "the lovely Samantha."

I have been to recordings of I'm Sorry... and I can confirm that Samantha is just, well, indescribable...
You can see right through her
And Humphrey Littleton's double entendres about her "social" activities are a scream.
Steve - I often gasp with disbelief that they're going out at 6.30 on R4! The recent cheesemaker one was one of the best...
One of the funniest programmes ever! I have often wondered if Samantha really existed but I interpret Quizmonkey's reply as meaning that she doesn't. What a pity.
How very dare you, David - she's every bit as real as the laser display screen!
But not as real as Mrs Trellis of North Wales.
Or the rules of "Mornington Crescent".
SteveD - are you straddling? Or are mainline stations wild under regency rules?
My fave Samantha moment was the story of her playing charades. Apparently she slipped on the floor whilst trying to pull off "12 Angry Men"!
Golem - she looks like whatever you want her to look like. That's the beauty of radio.

Thanks for your comments.

I have a lot of respect for Samantha, she seems to have an important part in the show that we rarely get to see. The picture I have of her is someone prepared to bend over backwards so that everything comes together, and in the tight recording schedule will always give Humphrey a hand, if he needs it to finish on time. I've got some Christmas presents for them all and I'm hoping to go to a recording and give her one after the show.

Has anyone done this?

BigMac, I usually refer to this site:

Failing that I browse "The Little Book of Mornington Crescent" ISBN 0-75281-864-3.

I prefer Morton's Second Parallel (if two parallel moves follow consecutively, the order of play is automatically reversed).

I always have a terrible time with Morton's Second Parallel. On three occasions I've got as far as Ongar and come to a complete stop. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
