The Old Bailey is more properly known as the Central Criminal Court and is the main trial centre for the City of London. Other trials are held there if (a) they relate to matters of, for example, national security (b) they relate to matters which were so well known or provoked such outrage in the area that they were committed that the accused could not have a fair trial in their own town.
