Does anyone know a reasonably cheap but nice hotel in Central London. No grotty B and Bs, somewhere pleasant for a weekend away.

I believe the Novotels in London represent excellent vfm and I use them quite a lot. The Waterloo one (which is actually by Lambeth Palace) is excellent.
