The area of France is 211,207 square miles and England is 50,334 square miles so France is more than four times the size of England.

Cheers Corby!
the area of the UK is 94,000 square miles or so; maybe that's what your boss had in mind? Makes France a bit more than twice as big.
jno, don't get me started on England/GB/UK.......

......... and here is an Englishman, and here are some Frogs ........

I was once told on a train in france that France was three times larger that Britain  and with a THIRD of the population.
the population of Britain and France is about the same - 60 million, give or take - so the person you were speaking to pega perhaps meant population density was a third - same number of people but in a much greater space
Britannica gives France as 210026 sq miles and England as 50531.  So, yes, France is about 4 times the size of England.  So long as you don't confuse England with the United Kingdom:-)

France? Too big for its boots!
