I don't know, maybe it's just his disposition. I'm always being told to smile more. I've got no real reason to complain about anything, and there are people a million times worse off than me, but I still can't seem to see the sunny side of anything.

If i was married to Julia Sawala i wouldnt stop smiling.

It's because he's realised how unfunny he is.
Apparently Harry Enfield is the same, very moody and a misery to work with. Tony Hancock was another one,he suffered bad bouts of depression but what a great comedian.  We cant expect them to put on a painted smile constantly can we?

Because he suffers from piles.  Yep.  He said it when he was on the show IQ - which was a great show, bring it back whoever was in charge of it. Ok, he didn't actually say "I suffer from piles" but he did say something about buying haemorroid cream from the chemist for himself, so I am assuming it was for him...He should be eating figs.

He just has one of those faces, kind of droopy, hangdog etc but he's kind of cute (did I really say that??)

Agree Susan, what an excellent show.

He is miserable for the same reason Jack Dee is deadpan and Lee Evans is sweaty whacky and face-contorting.

It's part of their act.

He isn't married, so that's not the answer.  It probably is just his way.

Alan Davies, born and bred in Essex....

Is a vegetarian.

Studied at the University of Kent at Canterbury

Paid 30,000 in a charity auction to purchase the original Big Brother House diary room chair.

Father was an accountant.

I think he is just fed up that he bought that damn chair and now can't get rid of it.

Have you met him? Who says he's miserable? Seems cheerful enough to me.

I think he's very funny, intelligent, and articulate.

And strangely attractive.

And I'm a bloke.

I've met him and he's far from miserable.  Private person and quite right to be.  Rather attractive too!

I love Alan & think he's hilarious & very fanciable, I'm very envious Lacey! (Why do we women sort of apologise for liking him?) Does anyone know whether Qi coming back again?

QI is currently showing on Thursdays, 10.30 on BBC4 (available on Freeview). Next Thursday (8 Sept) is programme 6 of 12
Who's Alan Davies, what has he been in?

HELLO!!!!

He's in Jonathan Creek, Bob and Rose, The Brief, QI and loads of other stuff.  Just been in The Odd Couple at Edinburgh Fringe.  He's a great stand up comedian too!

QI is back in the autumn for a new series of 12.  Great show!

Obviously, Alan is very popular!  I just heard that he was a 'miserable git'.  A friend of mine met him last year and was really surprised at how grumpy he was.  Only human I suppose.

Hey Robinia!  Don't apologise for liking Alan.  He's great.  Did you see him in Bob and Rose?  Gorgeous!
