Do you live where you live due to circumstances or choice?
If money and commitments were not an issue, would you move, and where to??

I live where I live out of choice and i cannot see any circumstances that would alter my feelings.

However, i am retired and during my "working life" my present abode would be totally unsuitable for me.
I live exactly where I want to live in the UK but if I had the money I would move immediately to about 25 miles away from Sqad. It is my dream.
I love where I live. It's a peaceful and friendly village. If I had the money I wouldn't mind a holiday home somewhere in the Greek islands though.
It would have to come with a swimming pool and maid!
I live in the town where I live because I came here with my work 17 years ago. For the time being, I'm very happy with it.

If we could afford it, we'd leave the county - Malta or Menorca are our preferred destinations.
^ country
Prudie/boxtops.......LOL.

My current location is dictated my work, but I wouldnt live here given the choice. I live in the same town I have always lived and there is nothing wrong with the place, I have itchy feet though for some reason. For the right job I would move.
When it comes to retirement or if I can do it sooner financially I would like to be abroad
Sqad, I'm not joking...
I`m happy where I live for now but when I retire, I will go back to the country. Ideally, I`d live six months in the UK and six months in Barbados.
Prudie....I know....
I've lived all over the UK during my working life, jd - so perhaps that's why I'm content where I am, at this stage of my life. Good transport links to where I need to get to, relatively low cost of living in this corner, my friends are here, I've lived in this house 15 years. The future may be different, but as with so many ambitions, it all boils down to being able to afford them.

Tough now as well because OH child has started school and is very settled, another reason why current location will have to do for time being. But, for the right opportunity would I risk up rooting the family? Perhaps....
i like where i live, its ok as places go, if i had the money i would up and go back to living by the sea somewhere, in the uk or abroad, i guess it would depend on how much money...
We're not joking either, sqad - OH in particular. He's travelled the world in his Forces days, lived in several countries for periods of time before that - his feet are probably itchier than mine! On this cold damp morning where the drizzle gets to your bones, it's very tempting.....
I live where I do to be near work, an airport, the tube, within London Freedom Pass area, near children, grandchildren etc. No amount of money would make me move away from here right now (so if I win loads of money I would change premises but not very far away)
It's nice to see that most of us so far are pretty happy.

My flat is near the town centre. I sold my house to move here, because I love it here. I never need to use a car anywhere in the town. I can walk to the shops, bars pubs, clubs. I can cycle to the gym. I can see the sea from my window.

I couldn't think of anywhere that I'd rather live. Unless you count Gstaad.
I must admit, JJ, that I still really miss the buzz and activity in Brighton, even after 15 years. I couldn't afford to move back now..... where I am now is a real cultural backwater, I used to love being able to get to the theatre and exhibitions either on foot or a short bus ride.
Nope, hate it

Cornwall, cottage on the coast please.
no if my health was better think i would buy a tent and just disappear
DrFilth - did you see The Naked Rambler, BBC1 last night? He didn't go home for seven years.....
