I have a Olympus E420 SLR camera. Would anyone like to recommend a suitable compact flash card to use? I have tried a Sandisk Extreme III (4GB) but it seems to be non compatible!

Seems the E-420 can take up to a 32GB Compact Flash card, (if you could afford one!), so your 4GB should be OK. It can also use an xD card, (at the same time, even, with a 'Card Selection' option to choose which card you want to use).
May be stating the obvious, but has the CF card been formatted on the camera? If it's been formatted on a computer, it would have to be reformatted in the camera before it'll work
Beg, steal, or borrow another CF card, format it, and see if that works

Thanks for the information Heathfield, I have now tried two cards, both Extreme III and neither work! It would appear that the camera takes cards only up to 2 GB. Information c/o Olympus.
Hi snail, I had problems with cards for my Olympus camera although it took an XD card there are different types and not all work in all XD card cameras. I tried Olympus themselves but they were not very helpful in fact more useless than anything. My camera was under 18 months old and they had stopped making the cards for it and I bought it a week or so after the release of it. I ended up contacting Luton cameras and hey presto a firm able and willing to help.

Worth a try. Good luck
