Baby Annabell/My First Annabell

Not too sure if I'm in the right section but hope a mother of girls can help. Santa gave my niece a Baby Annabell doll for Christmas and I thought I would buy her some clothes for it for her birthday. I started by buying a dress off e-bay to fit My First Annabell not knowing that there was a difference between the two dolls (I have 3 boys and not used to the finer points of dolls and their accessories!). I'm trying to sort out the problem with the dress but as I would also like to do some knitting for her I don't want the same problem again. If I use a baby pattern, can anyone tell me what size chest I should knit? Looking at the different web sites I gather one doll measures 46cm and the other 36cm but these are the only dimensions I can find.

Thanks for any help, I don't want to disappoint her on her birthday by giving her something that doesn't fit her doll.

I might be being really stupid and not grasped the question, but why don't you measure the doll yourself and look to see what the knitting pattern says the finished size is.
you could try the charity shops - baby clothes 0-3 fit, we have 3 girls and 2 annabels and other assorted baby dolls. Much cheaper too!

Thanks for both your answers.

jas1002 - I wanted it to be a surprise for my her birthday and didn't want to ask my sister-in-law to measure the doll unless I really needed to. As they don't live near me I haven't actually seen the doll to make an educated guess.

meltoadhall - I have a lot of wool and patterns and as I like to knit as a hobby it seemed a good way of using it up. I didn't know whether I should knit for a premature baby but as you say 0-3 months will fit, that gives me a good idea what I'm aiming for.

Thanks again

I knew I must have been missing something!!!!

I wasn't at home when I posted the message so I couldn't look at ours.

I've just been looking on e-bay and I'm thinking of buying a pattern book for dolls clothing 15-18". The size proportions will be right and I'll still be able to use up some of leftover wool that I've accumulated over the years.

Thanks all

Early baby size clothes actually fit perfectly and in the sale are far cheaper than dolls clothes (for future reference), I know it's a while since you posted, but your question came up when I googled for a baby annabel knitting pattern.

Hello Curiosity,

Good idea, my sister-in-law has been doing just that! As I wanted to use up a stock of baby wool I bought a couple of pattern books and first knit a dress in size 15-18". When sewn up it was too small and actually fits a 14" doll perfectly (First Annabell size). I'm now in the middle of knitting an outfit in size 19-22" and this size will fit Baby Annabell. I don't think my knitting is tight, but then I've never done a tension check! It is something to bear in mind if you are planning to knit for Annabell.
