My sister is having a party for her 30th. She wants everybody to dress smartly (tux & long dresses etc), but no casual clothing. I think in her invite it is classed as 'Smart Dress - No Casual Clothing'. How can I bend invite to really get on her wick. I am male, and I know that I could wear a 'Dress', but i'm dont fancy that. Would like to wear something outrageous but within her guidelines.... Answers please.

Why do you want to do this?  It's her birthday party, why are you being awkward?

There's always one! I bet that what she'll be thinking Sheppy!

NO No sheppy its a good idea. Get a traditional Indian/pakistani male attire. It can be very elegant and smart and believe me looks great on anglo saxon white British. usually in white or cream with some fancy embroidery around the collar and hems. You can get this in any Indian/Pakistani shop in Birmingham...possibly for hire.
You Devil you!
With all those James Bond types in their tuxedoes, why don't you go as Austin Powers.
Maybe you'll do that and you're the only person with 'Smart Dress - No Casual Clothing' on your invite so you will be the one feeling stooooooopid not your sister!
How about a kilt?!

Double checked the invite.  Says 'Posh Frocks Only, Tuxs Optional, no jeans or t-shirts'

The reason i'm doing this?  Cos i'm her big brother who always shows her up.  I've got a reputation to protect.

I think that's quite sad considering you're over 30.  Can't you just enjoy her birthday?  Does your sister find it funny or will it just annoy her?  Because you'd bug the hell outta me.

i think you should go for it - if you're often like this I think she'll be expecting it! Why does she want everyone to dress in 'posh frocks' anyway, is she having it in a posh venue?

I reckon a nice smart military uniform would look lovely. :-)

Why was my answer banned this time?

Would your sister find it funny or would it annoy her?  I could sort of tolerate something like a military uniform, but I still think you should just enjoy her birthday!

She orginally wanted a masked ball, but everyone she spoke to poo-poed the idea.  Its not in a posh venue, and there will only be about 60-70 people there.

She's expecting me to do something, I always do.

Yes i'm unpleasant to my sister (arent all big brothers),

Wellies and a thong,it always makes me smart.
