If they haven't a wedding gift list - I would say John Lewis vouchers, or from a shop of your choice.

Have you got any old school photos of them. you could be cruel and scan both pics and put them together in a nice frame.  That'll be funny

Failing that... a vase, candles, nice bowl etc. Household accessories that are extra touch to what they already have

How about something like a photo album, one of those nice looking ones that come in a presentation box (not a wedding album as this is something they would probably want to pick themselves, but they will have lots of honeymoon pics that will need a home) or a nice photo frame?
i agree with smudge - john lewis vouchers are the way to go, they can buy absolutely anything with them, even just toiletries if they really have everything!  I went to a uni friends wedding, she hadn't told us about the wedding list cos she didn't want us to be obliged to buy a pressie (most of us are still students!), so i got them a 20 john lewis voucher, when i got to the wedding i found that she did have a list and it was at john lewis... what good taste i must have.

The John Lewis suggestion is great.   An alternative would be the game "Mr and Mrs" about 15.    Another nice present would be a booking for "Tea at the Ritz" but costing about 4 times this amount!   Depends what you have to spend.

Thanks morg & janoel - I mentioned John Lewis as it's one of our favourite stores.

I also remember when our two daughters got married, they were inundated with gifts from a list, but were also given John Lewis vouchers. They had a great time shopping in there afterwards.

We were in JL again on Saturday & they always stock both practical & interesting things.

oh i have to say i love willow74,s idea the old school photo its fun and special at the same time

What about a mini luxury hamper (or cardboard box done up all fancy!) filled with some champagne/ sparkling wine, wine flutes, nice choccies etc. Tell them it's for after the honeymoon when all the dust has settled so they can have breakfast in bed.

We got one for our wedding & it was one of the gifts that really stuck in our minds.

Thank you so much for all your ideas... I'd really like to do something original, so the photo & hamper ideas are fantastic, thanks! :-)  I haven't heard of the Mr & Mrs Game so I'll google it in a min!

However, if all else fails, I'll be off to John Lewis! x

Try looking on eBay, that always helps me! I hope I've helped!

JL vouchers are always a good bet.  Alternatively, how about something tehy can keep for a later anniversary?  I'm thinking maybe a lovely bottle of wine or champagne that they could lay down for a few years?  Or perhpas (if they partake) a bottle of malt whisky, which will only improve with age.

One lovely idea I did hear of, was a couple who got a tree sapling as a present.  They planted it in their garden and watched it grow as each year of their marriage past.  Really sweet idea, unless you're moving home I guess.

JL vouchers are a great idea, but if there's a lot of you going, or you know lots of other who are stuck - how about holiday vouchers - you can get gift vouchers for thomas cook and stuff and they could put it towards a holiday or maybe a weekend away?
