Sorry if this is in the wrong section....

I've recently been bought a pair of Tiffany earrings as a gift from a friend. I'm concerned that they have spent too much money as, being who they are, I find this gift to be a little inappropriate.

So I'm wondering if they are real and how I can tell if they are authentic. I've checked the Tiffany website and the design does appear. They came in a little turquoise suede bag and have writing on the back of each earring. They are silver (I think) and I can make out T&CO 925. And a name (something) Picasso. I think the designer. And a copyright sign. The fastening bit also has T&CO written on it and is shaped like a flower.

I'd be grateful for any help.

Thanks.

Tiffany Paloma Picasso is a make of Tiffany jewellery. All Tiffany jewellery comes in a suede drawstring pouch, a little blue tiffany box, care card and a blue tiffany bag.  If the earings are secondhand then it is possible that the box and bag are missing.

I would think that the present is just a good fake.  It will still be sterling silver but not authentic.  If people buy Tiffany goods from people they know then they are normal from Shanghai or something.
