If you're asking your friend to bring you some back from the states remember that
a) you are asking your friend to take time out of their holiday to go shopping around for something for you, this may take them a few hours to locate and price up in a few shops before actually purchasing - is this really fair on your friend?
b) your friend is only allowed to bring back £390 worth of goods before they have to pay duty. If they are planning on doing quite a bit of shopping themselves (or even only buying one or two highly priced items) then they may have to limit their own shopping to accommodate yours, or run the risk of being caught at customs with more than their allowance. Again, is this fair?
