Hello there. I would like some advice as I am so frustrated with Argos. I bought some hairstraighteners about 6 months ago. They have developped a fault. I bought them for £29.99. they have now gone up to £39.99 Argos have changed the packagi ng and colour, but basically they are the same straighteners. Argos will not repair the straighteners, not will they exchange unless I pay the extra £10.00 for the new style straighteners.. I have my receipt. Can they do this? OK they will give me a refund, but if I want a replacement I am goin g to have to fork out the extra cash. To me this does not seem fair. It's not my fault they have developped a fault. Do you think they are right in law or not. and can I argue my rights. Should appreciate any advice. Thanks

Legally they ae on safe ground. They cannot offer you a replacement, so have instead offered a refund. If the packaging and colour has changed then technically they are not the same (in their eyes anyway)

Hope this helps
After 6 months of use, you are lucky to be fully refunded.
If you look at the terms of return they will fully refund/replace within 30 days, and between 30 days and a year will offer repair or refund. Sorry to say they've fulfilled their end of the agreement.
hi take your refund and see if they have these ones in stock in your ares

Take the refund and take your custom elsewhere.

Thank you all for your response. Final outcome....I stuck to my guns and eventually Argos got that fed up with me they exchanged for the "new style" straighteners!!!.thank you all again for your advice which I shall bare in mind for future transactions.....because as a general rule Argos have always been the most helpful shop around for me.
My daughter once worked in the Argos customer service. She had left school and wanted to work. She got so fed up with people bringing back things years later without receipts etc that she went back to school, got A levels and went on to University. Good old Argos!
