What would you pay for rent?
can some one advise me am I doing the right thing? i live in a flat one bedroom ground floor, i pay £675 plus council tax of £98 total £773
I live alone.
I am moveing to studio first floor smaller flat my rent will be £520 plus council flat £98 total £618 saving £155
The flat is smaller lot smaller infect you could have more then 2 people in there at the same time but am I doing theright thing?

CF is right, but to help you decide:
1. Is the extra cash likely to mean more than the loss of space?
2. A ground floor flat is better to get out of in a fire, but a first floor is better for security - windows open at night for example - which matters most to you?
3. Will you feel restricted by the smaller space?

WELL the flat I have lived in for the last 1 year is a luxory flat witha garden as I said love it but the one i am moveing in to is studio 1st floor small nearly £200 cheaper but i loose the space.
no one ever comes to visit me, family do not come over, i live alone. very alone. i only earn 1200 a month and am always worried that I will loose my job and wont be able to afford £ 800 to pay my land lord.
the studio belongs to my sister she moveing in to a bigger place so this helps her aswell. as its not easy to get tenents nowaday!
i also need security so that helps.
I also need a home for life so that helps
but i loose space and luxory.

Sounds to me like you understand the logic of what you are about to do. If you do not like the risk of losing your job, then the smaller flat is the place to be, given your earnings level, unless you can find a new job or boost your income in some way. You are balancing enjoying where you live with greater financial peace of mind. Better to have a roof over your head youcan keep in my view.... At least you are moving under your own control rather than because you have to, when the choices may be a lot less.....

what a fab answer. I know the logic of my movements and I know becasue it is family and if I am struggling I am sure they wont kick me out but if i am in luxory flat and can not pay the land lord will ask me to leave.
my job is ok at the moment but l worry all the time. i was trying to buy the studio but i did,nt get morgage even thou i have the deposit.
stuck betwen the devil and the deep blue sea.
i know i will miss the luxory flat like hell but what can i do? i have to sacrifice for the sake of security i am not young ha ha am not OAP yet either just in between.
am i being senisble
