I recently ordered a pair of boots from an on line website that I saw in a magazine. I waited till 2 weeks and then emailed them to see where they were and they just asked me to confirm the delivery address which i forwarded to them and since then I have heard nothing and no boots. They took the money straight away and are now ignoring my emails. What action could I take?

firstly, name and shame them here!! did you pay by credit card?
As EmEd has explained above, you have no problem if you paid by Credit Card. You should be able to claim your money back if matters have gone wrong.

Also, have a look again at the advert in the Magazine to which you refer. It may bear a symbol MOPS (Mail Order Protection Service). If this is the case simply contact the Commercial Editor of the appropriate Magazine by letter, phone, fax or e-mail and explain the situation. My guess is that you will either receive a full refund or the goods will arrive almost as if by magic !

thanks for your responses guys. I paid with my debit card so does that mean Im unable to claim back? It was linzi shoes - it was in more magazine if I remember correctly Id never even heard of them before. Will check when i get home for that symbol and sent them an email and hopefully that will resolve the issue.
stupid as i may be, i looked on the interenet for you to see if anyone else had posten anything anywhere else, i ended up looking on the website, finding the same boots im after from river island, but with 60 price difference, and just ordered them!!!! stupid...possibly!! i will let you know if they arrive.
i did find a link through to the Big broher website (as they used them for a tas or something...i dont watch it...so they must be trusted mostly?)
Just found these two reviews on this site, most of the other reviews good, but only eleven reviews in all, which suggests major problems with this company, to me.

Another thing, I believe that with most credit cards you would only be covered for purchases of 100 or more. Not that this applies to you as you paid by debit card.
I always pay by credit card for more expensive purchases, especially flights or holidays, as if a company goes bust you are always sure of a refund. It costs a bit more as you usually incur a charge of about 2%, but worth the charge in my view.
Not for the first time, I find myself despairing at one of Voltr4m4x's posts.

He's correct in stating that credit card companies have equal liability, with the trader, for providing a refund when things go wrong. (i.e. you can choose whether to demand your money back from either the trader or the credit card company). However he's failed to mention that this protection only applies to purchases between 100 and 30,000. If you pay less than 100 you gain no protection by using a credit card.

Voltr4m4x is correct in stating that some customers of some companies which advertise in the press are covered by a protection scheme, but he seems unaware that the scheme is now called SHOPS, not MOPS:

Anyway, the information is irrelevant because Linzi Shoes does not appear to be listed when searching the SHOPS database of members:

Emails are easy to ignore. Irate customers on the end of a phone line, threatening to sue or to involve the media are much harder to ignore. Phone them up! 01708 373535.

Just found this number, 01708766776 tried it , but says not accepting calls at the moment, may be worth a try in the morning.
Chris just tried the number you gave, but just a strange sound, maybe a fax machine?
