Dvd decoder/ player and pop ups

Hi, two questions here. 1. When I try and play a dvd on my pc it says it needs a decoder. I have tried to download various free players but the dvd is too dark and the footage cannot be seen clearly. Any advice for downloading free players. 2. I am sick of getting pop ups on my computer. Any recommendations for a good FREE pop up stopper? Many thanks.

As far as pop ups go, download Google Toolbar. It has a free Pop Up stopper included.

1 Power DVD is good 2. Google toolbar is best to block pop-ups. The grey box pop-ups can only be stopped by disabling the messenger service Start> Settings> Control Panel> Admin Tools> Services> scroll down for Messenger & double click on STOP & then change startup type to "Disabled" to stop it starting again
