Anyone bought a PC from Aldi?

The reason I ask is that I get email newsletters of forthcoming items, one of which is a fairly decent looking pc from this thursday. I'm tempted, as I need a new one, but I am just a bit wary of buying from someone where this is not their main business.

I was tempted to buy a cheap one from Tesco's.

The price was about 150 quid cheaper for the same model from PC World.

However, no word, no security, no office, no nothing really.

It would cost about the same if all the gubbins were added.

you could get better for the price elsewhere but I believe their stuff is normally ok quality
after 28 days postdog you will not be able to take the laptop back to Aldi
it will need to be sent to manufacturer if anything goes wrong with it!
my friend bought a pc from Lidl
no probs ..and iv'e bought pc stuff
from Aldi and not had any probs as in
using it or getting a refund ...they are
no different to any other retailer ..
My desktop is a 5 year old Medion.

Not one bit of trouble and still going strong, although I have increased RAM and other things, which I would have done with any pc of that age.

I am quite impressed with my Medion, especially as it was at the cheap end of the market then.
Yes. Generally happy with the machine, but not with the service from Medion. Had a couple of minor issues with USB ports, and downloaded a BIOS update from the Medion site. This failed, leaving my computer unusable, and when I contacted Medion they told me that the application of any software downloaded from their site was at the owner's risk and as such I was not liable for any help from them!!! They weren't even willing to help me source a replacement motherboard or BIOS chip; nor have they replied to any of my emails on the matter (sent months ago).

As it turns out (thanks to advice from the guys at Fareham PC Repair Centre and a work-related forum I use) the fix was fairly simple and, had the "support" people at Medion bothered to help, they could have explained it in about 5 minutes.

So: build quality etc - fine; support service - utter rubbish.
I had a Medion computer for 4 years and had no problems at all.
