dying/painting leather boots?

ive seen some really nice ankle length leather boots but i dont like the chestnut brown colour and was wanting to change them to either red or gold, does anyone know what would be best to use on them?

You can get shoe dye & do them your self. A lot of cobblers dye shoes etc.
