I'm invited to a wedding-the invitation states 'dress-glamorous'. What does glamorous mean in the context of what will be a very formal church wedding? The bride's parents are very traditional. I have nothing to wear and am very skint. Do not own a hat. All my dresses are black! Any ideas?

dress glamourous? do they think youd turn up to a wedding looking a scruff!?!? anyway, the black dress would be fine but how about teaming it with a fake fur stole. the ones on this website are a bit pricy but im sure you could get something similar in mosoon/accesorize.

so youve got your black dress, a lovely cream fake fur stole, perhaps add a hair accessory (you know the ones you can just push into a hair bun, they have a long stick on them?) instead of wearing a hat - way cheaper and much younger looking, i reckon youd look great.
: )
Sorry to sound old fashioned, but it's bad etiquette to dress for a wedding in black.
That really sounded like cold water pouring on a nice idea, didn't it? Sorry x
some bridal shops will hire out those little hat / feather concoctions that you see wedding guests wearing. They have all sorts of colours too.

Check out the debenhams sale thats still on. there are some lovely evening dresses that can look glamourous for day wear as do monsoon.

thanks all
I'm liking the red debenhams dress.
good idea about the hair accessory instead of a hat - any ideas where i can get a flower hair clip or similar?
also is it ok to wear a black jacket (or i will freeze). I know i'm not really allowed to wear black to a wedding. People wore black to my wedding, they looked good and i didn't mind at all! hate dress codes.
when is the wedding? try debenhams again for a little bolero jacket or something.

accessorize stores may have some nice hair accessories. found these online but the may have more in your local store http://www.monsoon.co.uk/icat/womenhairaccesso ries
the feather hair clips are called fascinators. here are the ones currently on ebay, some are quite nice and well priced. http://search.ebay.co.uk/hair-fascinator_W0QQf cclZ1QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfrtsZ0QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1

thanks for your help redcrx.
i love the fact that those feathery things are called fascinators!
I'll try my hand at making one i think - i've got chickens in the garden (with feathers), i've got paint, glitter...what can possibly go wrong?
maybe ebay is the way to go.
If you're going to show a bit of leg you could get fashion tights or pure silk stockings here:
