All Birmingham addresses state West Midlands as their county, but Warwickshire play at Edgbaston which is in Birmingham, therefore which county is Birmingham in?

birmingham is in the west midlands.
its confusing for me too cos where I live I have a coventry & warwickshire postcode, but pay rates to solihull (a borough of birmingham)!.

you pass warwick if you approach bham from the m40.
hope that helps.
edgebaston is def west midlands.
Yep, Edgbaston is definitely West Midlands.
I have a Birmingham postcode but live in Warwickshire but only about 100yards from Leicestershire border! I never know if I'm east or west midlands?
Before the boundary changes (before West Midlands was invented in the early 1970s) Birmingham was in Warwickshire.

A lot of older Birmingham people still use Warwickshire in their addresses.

But Warwickshire's County Cricket Ground has been in Birmingham since 1886.
Quite a few county cricket grounds are no longer in their counties. Surrey's ground is in Kennington (South London). Gloucestershire still play in Bristol.
Pagey, Solihull is NOT a borough of Birmingham! It's a Metropolitan Borough in its own right and has no connection with Birmingham other than being right next door to it and in the West Midlands. I'm a Brummie born & bred (though I confess I now live in Solihull!) and until this trumped-up so-called "county" of West Midlands was foisted on us Birmingham, Solihull and Castle Bromwich, where we lived before we moved here, were all in Warwickshire. Mind you, till 1911 Solihull and large parts of Birmingham were in Worcestershire, so boundary changes are nothing new!
