I like shorter hair I think cooler however everyone keeps telling me that they like me with long hair. To be fair as it is very wavy the longer the better.

So I have thought of a compromise, this:

It is different and short at the back but still looks long and feminine at the front. Plus it would produce an unusual layered looking ponytail. It would also be easier to straighten as you only need to worry about the front.

However I am wondering would it be possible to put a loose side plait/braid in it? If so how would you do it

It looks to me that you'd only be able to braid the very longest hair at the front...the short hair at the back would have to fall free.
That to me is a rather extreme cut...what if you don't like it when it's done? And it looks like a cut thats only suitable for straight hair. Constant straightening can't be good for the hair.

Well I thought if I don’t like it at least I still have the front that is long.

People get Bob haircuts all the time and they lose both the length at the front and back
