If you didn't do what you did now, what would you do, or what would you like to do? I'm an actress and I'd like to be a Psychologist.

I never wanted to do this in the first place. I......... wanted to be A LUMBERJACK! Leaping from tree to tree as they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia. With my best girl by my side. The Larch. The Pine. The Giant Redwood. The Sequoia. The Little Whopping Rule Tree. And we'd sing. Sing. Sing. "Oh, i'm a Lumberjack and i'm...

I am now retired but I loved my job (Occupational Therapy) and wouldn't have chosen another. Towards the end I felt that I had had enough of ANY job and was glad to get a break from constantly dealing with people. I don't want another job or to volunteer for anything. I don't want more friends or social life.
i am having a mid career change right at the moment. I used to be a nurse, an soon to be a project manager
Then be a Psychologist........what is stopping you?
From the age of 10years old I have been what i have always wanted to be, my only regret is that i wished that i had worked harder at Uni......I was just an average student.
AB has been a big disappointment for me as i wanted to give something back from a life that was very good to me in many ways.
Off to my Club now.
AB . Has been a big disappointed to me " in what way has a question and answer site been a disappointment to you squad?

I think you give a lot back Sqad, I value you tremendously and I don't honestly value much in life, i'm reasonably cynical.
If things don't pan out the way I expect them to or even if they do, or perhaps especially if they do, I might go down the psychology route. Watch this space as they say :)
I know what you mean about people Woofgang, I had a people overdose lately and it's made me think more about other things.
Exciting time Bedknobs have you always wanted to do that?
I would not have changed any of my last two jobs,9 years in the Army followed by 22 in the Police Force.
I'm currently a cook, and in my previous life was a graphic artist. I would have liked to have explored fine art or antiques in some way...possibly restoration. Though I doubt I'd have the patience/attention to detail for it. Soon to retire now.
Like Sqad, I've known what field I wanted to be in since I was very young. Probably a photographer. It's my main hobby.
Not even sure you could say that I *have* a career at the moment, but it's more accurate to say that I'm approaching the end of one chapter and about to begin a new one. Most likely next step is teaching, in one form or another, so I guess we'll see how that goes :)

How is the acting career progressing kval, if you don't mind my asking?
I'd like to be a sex god... oh, hang on... I already am !
From a young age I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and that's what I did for 10 years and then ever since been in the defence sector. I do wish I'd been long haul cabin crew to see the world or sometimes wish I joined the forces.
In which case I'd like to be intelligent enough to be a Nobel physics prize winner.

Very well thank you Jim, have enjoyed it thus far, and everything in place for it to improve in theory, got a film out end of this year but might now not actually be released til next year because of the way it all works and meh, went off for meetings for something much bigger next year in the US, so yeah all going very well thanks, but with anything you never know til it actually happens, and it never hurts to have a plan B :) x
I would like to be on the west end stage.

I do a lot of am dram (up to about five shows a year) and a bit of extra work but stage is my first love. I saw The Mousetrap this year and would love to be in that.

But life and kids get in the way. Lol
Sounds lovely :) Guess it's too much to ask that when the film is out you'd let us know or something? Be fun to see it at the time, although I suppose it would also be a pretty spectacular way to lose your anonymity!
From a very young age I wanted to be an Archaeologist. I read voraciously about excavations and was fortunate enough to live where there were quite a few were being undertaken.....over quite a number of years. I spent my summer holidays being a very willing nuisance around the dig-site and was occasionally rewarded by being given a 'worthless' artefact (an oyster-shell last held in Roman hands). Getting older, I spent my Summer holidays working 'properly' on site and have the pleasure of going to one or two museums where *my* finds are displayed.
However, we had a new teacher join the staff at my school and the Technical Drawing lessons which I enjoyed (but had actually opted for because I had a gap to fill in my lesson-timetable) suddenly came alive.....and opened up the world of Architecture to me.
That is where I have made my career.
But, if there was money to be made by being an Archaeologist (there isn't) I'd be there in a heartbeat...

A few people on here know me off AB so they'll know and I've no objection to you knowing also Jim, but I doubt I'll be making an announcement :) x

So many interesting aspirations, and so nice most of you have been happy in your careers. I think archaeology is fascinating as well Jack, I have a friend who is an archaeologist and he's always skint so you're right.
